7/21/2012 Sunflower Watercolor Painting
Sunflower Watercolor Painting with Peggy Clute- Wet on wet watercolor painting for beginners & intermediate students. From 1:00-4:00pm, students will paint a sunflower to practice wet on wet watercolor painting technique and creating a multicolored background. Cost of class is $30 and students should inquire about what painting supplies they'll need to bring to class. Register & pre-pay: 315-265-6860, www.slcartscouncil.org.

To Benefit the Canton PeeWee Association and St. Lawrence County Fire Department Training Facility, held on Judson Street Rd, Canton, NY starting at 10:00am. Cost for individuals is $15 if postmarked by July 7th, $20 per person July 7th to 21st. Teams - $2.50 discount each for 4 or more participants.

7/21/2012 Founder's Day Weekend Re-enactment and Colonial Trade Fair
Founder's Day Weekend Re-enactment and Colonial Trade Fair commemorates Ogdensburg's French colonial origins and the Battle of the 1000 Islands in 1760. Re-enactors in colorful uniforms from Canada and the US set up military camps and do battle on land and water. There are heritage arts & crafts, children's games & muster, historic displays and period shopping. 7/21/2012 The War of 1812: Songs and Stories from New York and Beyond
In this lecture/concert, Dave Ruch presents a fascinating portrait of the War of 1812 through the songs and stories of the people themselves. Ruch has dug deeply into archival recordings, diaries, old newspapers and other historical manuscrupts to unearth a wealth of rarely-heard music which, alongside some of the classics from the war, offers a rounded and fascinating picture of this "second war of independence". Special emphasis is given to New York State's important role in the conflict. Held at the Ogdensbrug Public Library, July 21 at 1:00pm.
