SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AT CHEEL CRAFT, FOOD, AND WINE SHOW
One-Stop Shopping Boosts County Artisans
Friday December 9 & Saturday December 10, Clarkson’s Cheel Arena, Potsdam
CANTON (December 2) – The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming Cheel Arena Craft, Food, and Wine Show gives holiday shoppers a convenient way to “shop local” this season – roughly 70 percent of the nearly 130 vendors at the show are based in St. Lawrence County.
From cheese, gourmet dips, and wine to handcrafted jewelry, furniture, and toys, the treats and crafts for sale not only help shoppers whittle down their Christmas gift list with one stop, they also represent the remarkable variety of goods and gifts produced in the county.
“Forget shopping in Syracuse and leave Burlington to others,” St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Pat McKeown urges. “Put your holiday shopping dollars to work right here. Our county crafters and local producers have fantastic gifts for everyone on your list, and you’ll find them at the Cheel show.”
McKeown noted that sales tax receipts for the county rose by about $1 million in 2010. “Let’s make it $2 million in 2011,” she said. “Shop your local downtowns and malls, and at events like our Cheel show.”
Local vendors at the show will be joined by those from across the North Country, Vermont, and Connecticut. More than 140 booths will be featured at this year’s event. Admission remains at $1.
The show takes place from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 9th, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th at Clarkson University’s Cheel Arena, Route 11 in Potsdam.
