Business Assistance

The St. Lawrence County Chamber is a member of the American Coalition of Chamber Executives, the Chamber Alliance of New York, the NYS Business Council, North Country Alliance, Great Lakes Seaway Trail, and the New York State Travel and Vacation Association.

Through these organizations and working with our elected officials, the Chamber strives to provide the best businesses services for our members.

The Chamber also works the Canton Small Business Development Center, located on the SUNY Canton Campus in Canton, NY. The SBDC is a center that works with the Federal Small Business Administration. The Canton SBDC can assist businesses with creating a business plan and understanding financials and cash flow.

Some sources for business funding include the St. Lawrence County Economic Development office and the County IDA. These organizations can assist in finding locations with the county or one of the County’s industrial parks. Their Come Farm With Us initiative encourages agricultural businesses to take a look at St. Lawrence County and the opportunities that are available here.

Many of the larger villages in the County also have their own economic development offices that can assist start-ups or businesses looking to relocate. These include: Potsdam ED, Ogdensburg ED, or the Massena BDC.

If you are interested in international trade, the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority offers many opportunities for transportation of goods by rail, marine, air or road, and operates a commercial park.
