Held the last week in June, the Madrid Bluegrass River Festival is music filled weekend on the banks of the Grasse River in the hamlet of Madrid. Three days of bluegrass music with players from all over the U.S. and Canada. The festival is located at the Madrid Community Center and includes a campground, bathrooms and shower facility, playground and canoe launch.

The weekend also includes canoe races and a  half marathon, 5K and 10K walk/runs, special dinners, craft show, and lots of impromptu jam sessions.

The festival was started by Don “Bud” Rupert, 20 years ago, and continues through the efforts of his niece and many volunteers and Bluegrass music enthusiasts.
