July 4 Events and Fireworks

Like most other small towns in the U.S. on July 4, people celebrate with picnics, barbecues and parades. St. Lawrence County is no exception. And without exception the place to be is the small hamlet of Norwood, near Potsdam. This small community has one of the largest July 4 parades and is conducted in conjunction with the local fire department’s Annual Firemen’s Field Day.

The event includes a Block Party and Concert in the Park on July 3, followed by the Parade on July 4 starting at 1. The Parade Route ends at the Firemen’s Field when the fair begins. Around 10 pm, the fireworks are shot off from the field, but viewing is good from the park or anywhere else you can find parking in the village.

Fireworks can also be seen in various communities including: Hannawa Falls (south of Potsdam); Massena, and Morristown.
