Founder’s Day Weekend

Fourth Weekend in July

Lighthouse Point, Ogdensburg

See battle reenactments from the French and Indian (Seven Year’s) War at this colorful two-day event sponsored by the Fort la Présentation Association.

Lighthouse Point was the actual site of Fort la Présentation, a missionary fort built in the mid 1700s. It was a pivotal point in three wars including the F&I, Revolutionary and War of 1812. Battles at Fort la Présentation and Fort Levi, another fort situated on the St. Lawrence River, were the last battles before the siege in Montreal, which ended the French and Indian War. The 250th anniversary of the F & I War is being commemorated from 2004-2010.

Sutlers (vendors) and demonstrators show how life was during the mid 1700s, including blacksmithing, soap making, medical treatment, clothing and children’s games.
