Camping

Whether your idea of camping is pulling the RV into a space with modern amenity hook-ups, or roughing it with a tent and nature, St. Lawrence County offers something for everyone. Get away from it all or make an active visit filled with festivals, fun and attractions.

St. Lawrence County has seven state operated campgrounds: Cedar Island State Park, Chippewa Bay; Coles Creek in Waddington, Cranberry Lake State Campground; Eel Weir State Park in Ogdensburg, Higley Flow State Park in Colton; Jacques Cartier State Park in Morristown; and Robert Moses State Park in Massena.

For camping reservations at one of the state run parks you can call 1-800-456-CAMP to reserve your spot.

  • Primitive camping also available in a number of areas including:
  • Cranberry Lake Wild Forest – Cranberry Lake, off Rt. 3, summer, 41 sites
  • High Falls – Star Lake, summer, canoe access only, 46 sites
  • Horseshoe Falls – Piercefield, 39 sites, 19 access by boat only (access off Rt. 30 between Tupper Lake and Long Lake)
  • Massawepie – Hamlet of Clare, Rt. 3, spring and fall only, 16 sites
  • Streeter Lake in the Aldrich Pond Wild Forest – Town of Fine, off Country Route 60, 2 sites
  • Walter Pratt Memorial Park & Forest – Massena, spring and fall, 17 sites

These sites are on a first come, first serve basis and have limited amenities. They are free to use. If you utilize a primitive site, please keep our environment clean, take out whatever you bring in. Contact the Department of Environmental Conservation at 315-265-3090. St. Lawrence County also features a number of beautiful privately owned campgrounds along the St. Lawrence, Raquette, and St. Regis rivers and on Black Lake.
