Oswegatchie Headwaters

This area in the southern portion of the county offers the some of the best native brook trout fishing in the area. Populations of native brookies are healthy although fish are small compared to stocked areas. Exploring the area by hiking trails and canoe are reward enough to try fishing here. Access is at the southwestern end of Cranberry Lake at Wanakena and at Inlet.

Wilderness camping is available to individuals who are willing to backpack or canoe. Lean-tos are provided by the DEC. Accommodations are what you carry in, please leave the area pristine by leaving nothing behind.
