Outdoor Recreation
St. Lawrence County is the largest county in New York State geographically, with 2,822 square miles. It is definitely the great outdoors! Almost a third of the county falls in the Adirondack Park, while 75 miles of its border is along the St. Lawrence River. And that is just one of the more than 200 rivers, ponds and lakes that are covering the territory.
So when talking about outdoor recreation, this area truly has a little bit of everything from hiking and biking to canoeing and fishing. There are some wonderful waterfall hikes-- check out the St. Lawrence County Waterfalls Guide to locate the trail heads. This guide is also available in printed form.
If your idea of recreation is motorized, there are trails for ATVs and snowmobiles. Or if the manicured green is your speed, there are some wonderful golf courses dotting the county.
This is why we say St. Lawrence County is Naturally Fun!
